if it's not too much trouble, i would like to get text updates from the forum when someone posts, specifically from threads that i have posted on. this would make discussions much less willy-nilly and more pointed, i think.

Ted, I'll look into this. This type of functionality will really depend on what PHPBB has out there as I do not have the time to invest in such a development project. You can "subscribe" to a Topic to be e-mailed when replies are posted.

and also, you could put in your cell number as an email address and the message will be sent via text. for example: if you have ATT your cell's e-mail address would be: yournumber@mms.att.net the best way to find this would be just send a text to your e-mail address instead of a phone number and look at the address it came from

Hey another way to see if there are any new messages is to just login to the forum and see if there are any new messages.
